Age:

I remember listening to music from a CD player, AOL Instant Messenger, Myspace, Rugrats & Hey Arnold, Pokemon, Dial-Up Internet, and waiting for calls on the home phone. It was a simpler time, it was a happier time.

I was born in Seoul, South Korea and moved to the States when I was 5 years old. I was raised by first-generation immigrant parents and grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After graduating high school, I briefly attended college for my freshman year but dropped out, naively thinking making money was more important than pursing higher education. Caught in the feverish desire to leave the hometown life, I packed my bags and moved as far away from home as possible to sunny Los Angeles, California in 2009.

Since then, I spent the next 10+ years working and building my professional career as a Product Manager. I originally started in Sales, working for wholesale manufacturers and got into product and project management out of sheer curiosity but more importantly frustration and anger. As the top salesperson for one of the wholesale industry's leading manufacturers at the time, I would receive consistent feedback from customers and clients regarding issues or grievances, requests for improvements, or other important insight and feedback. When I would submit them to the company's product manager, the initial response and answer was always a resounding "No", without any explanation as to why or what prevents products or projects from being created or initiated. I decided to take matters into my own hands and began the path of becoming a responsive and detailed product manager.

After 10 years, and an infinite amount of advice from family and friends, I decided to continue to pursue higher education and attended Santa Monica College to obtain my Associates in Business Administration. Despite the challenges and struggle, I was able to overcome and obtained my Associates in December of 2021. Attending college while having real world work experience, in my opinion, greatly enhanced the educational journey because the information was so relatable and altered the ways you viewed a problem or situation at work. I do plan on continuing my education and pursue both Bachelors and Masters in Business as I have successfully established a proven and tested method of separating work and school priorities.

My two fur babies, Candy and Chewy, are the passions of my life. They have helped me to define my passion in animal care and rescue. I often volunteer at local animal shelters and work with shelters to find homes for pets by utilizing social media. I also find time to volunteer for non-profits that specialize in bringing animals from overseas and finding a new loving home. One fun fact about me is I am an inspiring comedian.
